First Peace Information Network Letter
Dear Friends of Peace,
This is the beginning of a Peace Information Network. We hope that you (and anyone you would like to include) will become part of it.
There appear to be thousands of peace websites representing millions of people who are expressing the desire for peace. It would be fantastic to bring people together regularly through celebration of various peace-related days each month. To that end, a calendar has been created listing days throughout the year that are peace oriented. An email will be sent before special days come along, telling you the names of the days along with websites to visit. We hope you will find this helpful in becoming familiar with them.
Here is a real example of the kind of information you will receive:
World Heritage Day on the 18th of April. This website tells how this day was created and adopted by UNESCO: http://www.gdrc.org/heritage/world-heritage-day.html and it suggests many things to do to celebrate the day, for example:
"Special awareness raising activities amongst school children and youth"
Earth Day the 22nd of April. This website from the WWF describes the day http://www.worldwildlife.org/earthday/ and also outlines Ten Ways You Can Make Earth Day Matter starting with:
"1. Don't leave the water running. Turn off the water when brushing your teeth or washing the car. Fresh water is one of our most precious natural resources."
Information about each day will be sent as it approaches to help you prepare to do something on the day. By the way, so far there are 90 days in the year that seem to be related to peace!
If you would like to contact others in your own peace networks with an email [you may forward this one if you like], then we can spread information very efficiently and effectively. Please note: no one is suggesting you do this in the guise of a chain letter. This is being sent to groups or people who we anticipate will be interested. If you decide to send this to people YOU think might be interested as well, then the Peace Information Network will grow.
If you get this from more than one source, that shows you are thought of as being a peace person!
Please ask if you would like a list of all of the peace dates throughout the year in advance. Otherwise, an update will be sent every week or two to let you know what is next!
May the light of love and peace shine brightly on us all!
